🌿 Cannabis Retail General Manager

Position Overview

As General Manager, you will be the driving force behind our dispensary’s success—managing all facets of retail operations including inventory control, staffing, compliance, sales strategy, and customer engagement. You will lead a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that the store operates smoothly, profitably, and in full compliance with Michigan’s cannabis laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily dispensary operations including inventory management, staffing, customer service, and sales performance

  • Ensure strict compliance with all Michigan cannabis regulations (MRA - Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act) and local ordinances, including seed-to-sale tracking and secure handling of cannabis products

  • Manage and optimize store budgeting, cost control, and financial performance to meet or exceed sales and profitability goals

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team, fostering a positive, inclusive, and accountable work culture

  • Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to develop and execute effective promotional campaigns and in-store events tailored to Michigan’s cannabis market

  • Oversee employee scheduling to maximize efficiency and maintain appropriate staffing levels during peak hours

  • Implement and enforce comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with regulatory requirements and company standards

  • Cultivate strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure consistent product availability, quality, and compliance

  • Monitor key operational and sales metrics using data analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement

  • Stay current on Michigan cannabis market trends, regulatory updates, and emerging best practices

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Proficient in Dutchie POS and e-commerce platform to manage inventory, order flow, and customer interactions seamlessly

  • Experienced with Alpine IQ or similar customer loyalty and analytics tools to enhance marketing strategies and customer retention

  • Strong background in marketing and promotional communications specific to cannabis retail, including regulatory-compliant advertising in Michigan

  • Ability to navigate Michigan’s cannabis regulatory environment with expertise in compliance, seed-to-sale systems, and reporting

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in retail or cannabis operations, preferably in a dispensary or similarly regulated environment

  • Deep understanding of Michigan cannabis laws, including the MRA, state licensing requirements, and compliance protocols

  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory control, POS management, and operational efficiency

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse workforce

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a high-pressure, results-oriented environment

  • Must be 21 years or older and eligible to work in Michigan’s regulated cannabis industry
